What are social media marketing services?

Social media marketing services plan, create, publish, promote and measure a brand’s content on platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook and YouTube, so the right people find it, trust it and get in touch. The work covers strategy, content, paid ads, influencers, community replies and reporting. Digital Magma delivers social media marketing services from Noida, India, for brands worldwide.

In plain words

Social media marketing explained: organic, paid and what an agency does all week

Social media marketing has two halves that work best together. Organic social is everything you publish for free: posts, Reels, Shorts, carousels, Stories, replies. Paid social is money spent to put chosen content in front of chosen people, through Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager or YouTube ads.

Organic builds the trust. Paid buys the reach. With social media marketing services, the two halves are planned together. A brand that only posts organically waits a long time for scale, and a brand that only runs ads pays full price for every impression because nobody recognises the name.

What does a social media marketing agency actually do in a normal week? At Digital Magma it looks like this. Monday, the week’s posts are checked against the approved calendar. Tuesday and Wednesday, Reels get edited and captions written. Every business day, someone reads and answers comments and DMs. Thursday, the paid team looks at which organic posts are pulling above average and puts budget behind them. Friday, numbers go into the shared log. Once a month, all of it becomes a report and a call.

There is one more job that did not exist a few years ago. Social platforms are now search engines in their own right, and public posts feed the answers AI assistants give about your brand. We cover both further down, in social search and AI search.

Self-check

Social media marketing services: who needs them, and 6 signs it is time

Social media marketing services earn their fee when a brand is already posting but cannot link the effort to enquiries. If two or more of these sound like you, a proper plan will pay back faster than more posts.

You post every week and nobody enquires

The content is about you, not about the questions buyers ask. Fix: content pillars built from real customer questions, each post with one clear next step.

Your profiles do not match

Different logos, old phone numbers, a bio from 2021, a broken link. This is the social media optimization (SMO) problem. Fix: one set of facts on every profile, a link that tracks, and highlights that answer the first three questions.

Followers go up, reach goes down

Feeds now favour recommendations over follows, so a bigger follower count no longer guarantees views. Fix: content built to hold attention in the first seconds and to be shared or saved.

Ads spend money, leads are poor or invisible

Boosted posts with no Meta Pixel, no Conversions API and no UTM tags leave you guessing. Fix: tracking first, then campaigns with a lead or sale as the objective.

Comments and DMs wait for days

A price question left unanswered on Friday is a sale lost by Monday. Good social media marketing services fix this with a reply routine on business days, saved answers for common questions and an escalation rule for complaints.

A launch, new market or hiring push is coming

Product launches, a first campaign in a new country and graduate hiring all need a social plan months ahead. Fix: a 90-day calendar with paid support booked in.

Who social media marketing suits best

D2C and ecommerce brands that sell visually. Local and service businesses where trust and reviews decide the booking. B2B and SaaS companies that sell through LinkedIn and founder credibility. Healthcare and education providers, where people check you out on social before they call. Founders building a personal brand. For a small business with one person doing everything, social media marketing for small business usually means one or two platforms done properly, and a short list of posts that answer buyer questions. If your buyers mainly search Google with intent to buy right now, PPC services may be the better first spend. See the full services list for what we can take off your plate.

Social media marketing vs social media management, advertising and SMO: the differences

Social media marketing is the umbrella: strategy, organic content, paid ads and measurement together. Social media management is the day-to-day publishing and replying inside it, paid social is the ad spend, and SMO is profile optimisation. Agencies use the words loosely, so here they are side by side.

TermWhat it coversMain outputFirst KPIWho usually buys it
Social media marketingStrategy, organic content, paid social, creators and measurementA plan tied to a business goalLeads or sales from socialBrands that want social to bring in business
Social media management servicesPublishing, scheduling, community repliesPosts live on time, inbox answeredConsistency and response timeTeams with a strategy but no time
Social media advertising services (paid social)Campaigns, targeting, creative testing, budgetsPaid reach and conversionsCost per lead, return on ad spendBrands with a proven offer
Social media optimization (SMO)Profiles, bios, links, keywords, highlightsProfiles that convert visitors and show up in app searchProfile visits to link clicksNew brands, rebrands, neglected pages
Digital marketingAll online channels: SEO, ads, social, email, contentA cross-channel planTotal leads and cost per leadBusinesses wanting one partner for everything

Most businesses need management plus some paid social, with SMO done once and kept tidy. Digital Magma scopes and quotes each part separately, so you can see what you are paying for. If social is one channel among several, our digital marketing services plan it next to SEO, ads and email.

Process

Social media marketing process at Digital Magma: 6 steps

Digital Magma runs the same six steps of its social media marketing services for every social media marketing client, whether the goal is bookings for a clinic or demo requests from overseas buyers. Each step ends with something you can see and approve.

1

Audit and goal

Profiles, past posts, ad account, tracking and competitors reviewed. One main goal agreed: leads, sales, hiring or awareness. Output: a written audit.

2

Strategy and SMO

Platforms chosen, content pillars and brand voice set, every profile fixed. Output: a one-page strategy and updated profiles.

3

Content calendar

A month of Reels, carousels and posts planned, written and designed. Output: a calendar you approve before anything goes live.

4

Publish and engage

Posts go live at your audience’s active hours, in their time zone. Comments and DMs get answered. Output: a shared work log.

5

Promote

Top organic posts get budget, retargeting runs, creator or UGC content is added where it fits. Output: live campaigns with tracking.

6

Report and refine

Reach, engagement, clicks, leads and cost per lead reviewed. Output: a monthly report, a call and next month’s changes.

Every month

Social media marketing deliverables every month, and the tools we use

Social media marketing deliverables at Digital Magma are listed in a shared work log, so you can see what was planned, posted, answered and promoted. How many posts and Reels you get depends on the plan, and the number is written into your scope before work starts.

  • Content calendar: the full month, approved by you in advance
  • Reels and Shorts: scripted, edited and captioned
  • Posts and carousels: designed in your brand style
  • Community: comments and DMs answered on business days
  • Paid social: campaigns set up, tested and optimised weekly
  • Work log: every task dated and linked
  • Report and call: numbers, what worked, what changes next month

A note on volume. We would rather publish fewer posts that people save and share than fill a calendar for the sake of it. When a brand asks for “a post a day”, the first question we ask is who will reply to the comments.

Platforms

Social media marketing platforms: which ones fit your goal

Social media marketing platforms each reward a different kind of content and buyer, so Digital Magma picks the two or three where your customers spend time and says plainly which ones to skip. Two platforms done well beat six abandoned ones.

About TikTok and India

India’s Ministry of Electronics and IT announced a ban on TikTok and 58 other apps on 29 June 2020 (PIB press release). So for Indian audiences we use Reels and Shorts, and we plan TikTok only for brands selling in other markets where it is available.

YouTube Shorts got longer

According to YouTube Help, square or vertical videos up to three minutes uploaded on or after 15 October 2024 count as Shorts. That gives room for a full answer, a demo or a short case story.

How often should a business post?

Consistency matters more than volume. We set a cadence per platform in your plan, based on how much good material you have and who will answer comments, then hold it. A steady rhythm you can keep for a year beats a burst you drop in a month.

Instagram marketing services and LinkedIn marketing services are the two we are asked for most. Video-heavy plans for YouTube are shared with our video marketing services.

The expert part

Social media marketing strategy: how Digital Magma plans content that performs

Social media marketing strategy at Digital Magma starts from the buyer’s questions and the business goal, then works backwards to formats and posting times. Six habits make the difference between a busy feed and one that brings enquiries.

1. Content pillars and hooks

Three to five pillars, each tied to something a buyer needs to believe before they buy: proof, process, price, people, problems you solve. Every video opens with a hook in the first seconds, a question or a result, because recommendation feeds decide fast. One idea gets many cuts: a Reel, a carousel, a LinkedIn post, a Short.

2. Social search

People type questions into Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest the way they type into Google. So captions, on-screen text, alt text and profile names are written like page titles. The keyword research our SEO services team already does goes straight into first lines and video titles. Very few social teams do this, and it compounds.

3. Paid amplification

We boost posts that have already beaten your organic average, because the audience has voted. Then we retarget video viewers and engagers, and build lookalike audiences from real customers. Meta Pixel plus the Conversions API send cleaner conversion signals, so the ad system learns from leads, not from clicks.

4. Creators and UGC

Audience fit beats follower count. A creator whose followers are your buyers, in your city or niche, usually outperforms a bigger name with a general audience. Usage rights go in writing before filming, and every creator brief states the disclosure rule for the market.

5. Community and first-party data

Replies go out in your voice, with saved answers for common questions. Where it fits, we move people from a comment to something you own: a WhatsApp opt-in, an email sign-up or a lead form that lands in your CRM or sheet. Platforms change their rules. Your list stays yours.

6. B2B on LinkedIn

On LinkedIn, a founder writing in the first person often reaches more people than the company page posting the same idea. So B2B plans pair the company page with founder and team profiles, case-study posts and expert commentary. The app company in our case studies grew its page from 4K to 28K followers over the whole programme.

Anatomy of a Reel or Short that earns its place

Hook (first seconds)The question or result, spoken and on screen
Value (the middle)One idea, shown rather than told, with captions for silent viewing
ProofA number, a customer, a before and after
Next stepSave, comment a keyword, tap the link, or send a DM

Long-form writing for LinkedIn articles and blog posts comes from our content writing team, so the same voice runs across your site and your social accounts.

Case studies

Social media marketing case studies from Digital Magma

Digital Magma keeps client names private, so these three projects are anonymised. The LinkedIn growth is our social-specific number. The other two are search and paid-search projects, and we label them that way because the research behind them now shapes our social plans.

2026 data

Social media marketing in 2026: benchmarks and trends, with sources

Social media marketing in 2026 reaches most of the world’s online population, and discovery is shifting from Google’s blue links towards social and video apps. Every number below names its source, so you can check it yourself.

5.79 billionsocial media user identities worldwide at the start of April 2026 (DataReportal, April 2026)
6.5 platformsused or visited each month by the typical social media user (GWI data, reported by DataReportal, April 2026)
18 hours 36 minutesa week on social platforms, including online video (GWI data via DataReportal, April 2026)
8% vs 15%of Google visits with a click on a result, with and without an AI summary (Pew Research Center, 22 July 2025)
3 minutesmaximum length for Shorts uploaded from 15 October 2024 (YouTube Help)

Pew’s study used the March 2025 browsing data of 900 US adults. It is one country and one month, but the direction matches what we see in client analytics: fewer clicks from search, more discovery inside apps.

Six trends shaping plans this year

Search inside the apps

Buyers look up restaurants on Instagram, reviews on YouTube and ideas on Pinterest. Captions and titles now do the job page titles do on a website.

Vertical video as the default

Reels and Shorts are the format platforms push hardest. We plan each idea as a video first, then cut it into posts.

Recommendation feeds over follows

Content now reaches people who do not follow you, and fails to reach many who do. Follower count matters less than whether a post holds attention.

Creator-led ads

We test ads that look like a person talking, filmed on a phone, against polished studio ads. Creator content and UGC feed both organic and paid.

Consent and first-party data

India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, GDPR and UK GDPR make opt-in audiences more valuable than rented ones. Leads you own outlast any algorithm change.

AI tools, checked by people

AI helps with first drafts, subtitles and resizing. A person still checks facts, tone and claims before anything goes live, because the brand carries the risk.

More on short-form video production in video marketing.

Industries

Social media marketing services by industry: who we work with

Social media marketing services work differently in each industry, because buyers, ad policies and sales cycles differ. Digital Magma plans each account around how that sector buys, and these four are where we are asked most often.

IT, software and apps

LinkedIn company pages, founder posts and case-study content for international B2B buyers. Lead gen forms for demos. See SaaS digital marketing.

Ecommerce and D2C

Reels, UGC, catalogue ads and Instagram shops, with retargeting for people who viewed a product. See ecommerce digital marketing.

Also: digital marketing for real estate (project launches, site-visit lead ads) and digital marketing for education (admissions seasons, student stories, parent audiences).

Worldwide

Social media marketing agency for brands worldwide: how remote delivery works

Digital Magma is a social media marketing agency with one office, in Sector 137, Noida 201305, and it serves every other market remotely. There are no overseas offices and we will never pretend otherwise. The work happens in your own accounts, on video calls and in a shared calendar and log.

Posting times follow your audience’s time zone, not ours. A London café’s Reel goes out when London is scrolling, and a Toronto SaaS brand’s LinkedIn post lands on a Toronto morning. Approvals and calls run Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 9 pm IST, which overlaps the UK and UAE working day and the US and Canadian early morning.

Outside India, we quote in USD, GBP or AED on scope. Ad spend is always paid by you, straight to Meta, LinkedIn or Google, in your own currency.

These links go to our SEO pages for each country, which explain how remote delivery works in that market. Based near our office? See SEO services in Noida.

Pricing

Social media marketing services cost: how much do they cost?

Social media marketing services at Digital Magma are priced on a custom quote with a written scope and a fixed monthly fee, because two brands rarely need the same platforms, video volume or reply hours. Ad spend for social media marketing services is separate and paid by you to the platform.

Compare

Social media marketing agency vs freelancer vs in-house team

A social media marketing agency suits brands that need strategy, content, video, ads and reporting handled together. A freelancer suits one narrow task, and an in-house hire makes sense once you post several times a day.

When is a freelancer enough? If you need one designer for statics, or one editor for Reels, and you will handle strategy and replies yourself. When should you hire in-house? When the volume is daily, the brand needs someone on site to film, and you can pay for tools and training. Many growing brands mix the two: one in-house person who owns the voice, with an agency on strategy, paid social and reporting. Prefer dedicated people? See how to hire digital marketing experts.

Buyer’s guide

Social media marketing agency checklist: how to choose the right one

The right social media marketing agency can show real account growth with a source, explains what it will post and why, and leaves you owning everything. Use this checklist on anyone you talk to, Digital Magma included.

Green flags: look for these

  • Before and after numbers, with a source you can check
  • A written monthly scope: posts, Reels, replies, ads
  • Content sent for approval before it goes live
  • Reports with clicks, leads and cost per lead, beyond likes
  • Written rules on creator disclosure and usage rights
  • Your name on every page and ad account

Red flags: walk away from these

  • “10K followers guaranteed” or “viral in 30 days”
  • Bought followers, engagement pods or bot comments
  • Stock templates with your logo pasted on
  • They want to own your page or ad account
  • Reports that stop at likes and impressions
  • Long lock-ins before any content is live

Six questions to ask any social media agency

  • Which accounts have you grown, by how much, and can I see the source?
  • Who writes, designs and edits our content?
  • How many Reels and posts do we get each month?
  • How will you track leads from social into GA4 or our CRM?
  • What happens to our pages, ads and data if we stop?
  • How do you handle a negative comment or a crisis?

Ask for proof in the same format you would accept from us: a named metric, a before and after, and a screenshot on request. Our own is on the case studies page.

What to expect

Social media marketing results: what happens in 30, 60 and 90 days

Social media marketing results usually take three to six months to build organically, and paid social is faster. This is a typical path at Digital Magma. Yours depends on your niche, your starting point and how much material you can give us.

Days 1–30

Foundation

Audit, SMO fixes, tracking, content pillars, and the first calendar approved and live.

Days 31–60

Finding the format

Testing hooks, lengths and topics. Paid campaigns bring first leads while organic reach settles.

Days 61–90

Repeat what works

Winning formats repeated, weak ones dropped, and a first growth review with you.

Months 4–6+

Compounding

A content library, retargeting pools and search visibility inside the apps keep adding up.

If someone promises viral results in week one, re-read the red flags above.

Measurement

Social media marketing KPIs: how Digital Magma measures results

Social media marketing KPIs at Digital Magma start with business numbers and end with content numbers, because a post that gets likes but no enquiries is a cost. Reports come in three layers.

Business KPIs

Leads, cost per lead, sales, return on ad spend from paid social, and social-assisted conversions in GA4. These open every report.

Content KPIs

Reach, impressions, engagement rate, saves, shares, profile visits, link clicks, click-through rate and video retention. We define engagement rate as likes, comments, shares and saves divided by reach, times 100, and we keep the formula the same month to month so the trend means something.

Community KPIs

Response time, sentiment analysis of comments and mentions, and share of voice against named competitors.

How the tracking works

UTM parameters on every link, the Meta Pixel plus the Conversions API, LinkedIn’s Insight Tag where LinkedIn ads run, and GA4 events for forms, calls and WhatsApp clicks. Looker Studio pulls it into one view.

Rules and risk

Social media marketing compliance and crisis handling: disclosure, consent and bad days

Social media marketing carries legal and reputation risk that most agency pages skip. Digital Magma writes disclosure, consent and crisis rules into every plan, so your brand is covered before a creator posts or a complaint goes public.

Influencer disclosure (USA)

The US Federal Trade Commission’s Disclosures 101 for Social Media Influencers says a creator must make any “material connection” with a brand obvious, which includes payment or free products. Hashtags such as #ad or #sponsored can be used. FTC disclosure rules go into every US creator brief.

Influencer disclosure (India)

The Advertising Standards Council of India asks brands and influencers to disclose material connections so ads are not disguised as content. Its influencer resources explain how. Indian creator briefs follow ASCI’s guidelines.

Consent for leads

Lead-form and WhatsApp opt-ins are recorded with the date and the wording people agreed to. India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act applies to Indian audiences, and GDPR or UK GDPR to European and British ones.

Sensitive categories

Health, finance, real estate, employment and housing ads face extra platform ad policies on Meta and LinkedIn. We check them before a campaign is built, not after it is rejected.

Crisis playbook

Who replies, what they say, when to go quiet, when to escalate to you. Agreed in writing at the start, so no angry comment sits for days while people wonder who owns it.

When it reaches reviews

If a complaint moves from comments to Google or other review sites, our online reputation management team takes it from there.

Avoid these

Social media marketing mistakes and myths to avoid

Social media marketing mistakes are rarely dramatic. They are habits that waste months, and these eight are the ones Digital Magma sees most in audits.

Being on every platform

Six half-run accounts look worse than two good ones. Pick where buyers are and close or pause the rest.

Posting without a goal

If nobody can say what a post is for, it is for nobody. Every post should support one goal and one next step.

Judging by followers

Followers are a lagging number. Profile visits, saves, DMs and leads tell you sooner whether content works.

Buying followers or engagement

Fake followers never engage, so platforms show your posts to fewer real people. We refuse to buy them.

Boosting random posts

Boost what already beat your organic average. Budget behind a weak post only makes it expensive.

No tracking on links

Without UTM parameters and a Pixel, social gets no credit in GA4, and budgets get cut for the wrong reason.

Myth: organic reach is dead

Organic reach from followers has fallen, but recommendation feeds still show strong content to new people for free. The rules changed. The opportunity did not go away.

Myth: B2B does not work on social

LinkedIn exists for it. Our app company client’s page grew from 4K to 28K followers over its programme, with B2B buyers in six countries.

People type questions into Instagram and YouTube the way they type into Google. The keyword research we do for SEO goes straight into first lines and on-screen text.

Reply speed is a sales metric

A DM asking for a price is the warmest lead a brand gets on social. The brands that answer the same day are the ones that turn those messages into sales.

FAQs

Social media marketing services: frequently asked questions

What is included in social media marketing services?

Digital Magma’s social media marketing services include a social media audit, profile optimisation (SMO), strategy, a monthly content calendar, Reels and posts, community management, paid social on Meta, LinkedIn and YouTube, influencer and UGC work, tracking and a monthly report. You choose the parts you need, and the scope is written down before work starts.

How much do social media marketing services cost?

Social media marketing services at Digital Magma are priced on a custom quote with a fixed monthly fee. The cost depends on the number of platforms, how much video we produce, reply hours, paid platforms, creators and markets. Ad spend is separate and paid by you directly to Meta, LinkedIn or Google.

What is the difference between social media marketing and social media management?

Social media management is the day-to-day work: publishing posts and answering comments and DMs. Social media marketing is the whole plan around it, including strategy, paid social, creators and measurement against business goals. Most brands need management plus some paid support.

Which social media platform is best for my business?

The best platform is the one your buyers already use. B2B and SaaS companies usually start with LinkedIn. Consumer, food, beauty and D2C brands start with Instagram. Products people research before buying do well on YouTube. Two platforms done well beat six done badly.

How often should a business post on social media?

Post as often as you can keep up with good content and fast replies, then hold that rhythm. Digital Magma sets a cadence per platform in your plan based on your material and goals. Consistency over months matters far more than a daily burst that stops after a few weeks.

How long does social media marketing take to show results?

Paid social can bring leads within weeks once tracking is set up. Organic growth usually takes three to six months to build, depending on your niche, starting audience and how much content you can supply. The first 30 days go on audit, profile fixes, tracking and testing formats.

How do you measure social media ROI?

Digital Magma measures social media ROI with leads, cost per lead, sales and return on ad spend, tracked through UTM parameters, the Meta Pixel, the Conversions API and GA4. Reach and engagement are reported too, but they sit under the business numbers, not above them.

Do I need to supply photos and videos?

Either way works. You can send raw footage and photos for us to edit, or we can script and arrange shoots. Supplying your own material lowers the cost, and real footage of your team, product or premises usually performs better than stock images.

Can I still post on my own accounts while you manage them?

You can post whenever you like. Digital Magma adds your posts to the shared calendar so nothing clashes, and we can edit captions or suggest timing if you want. The accounts stay in your name, so you never lose access.

Is there a long contract or a setup fee?

Digital Magma writes the term, notice period and any one-off costs into the scope you approve before work starts, so there are no surprises. Ask any agency to put the same three things in writing, and be wary of long lock-ins before any content is live.

Do you handle influencer marketing and UGC?

Digital Magma finds nano and micro creators by audience fit, writes creator briefs, agrees usage rights in writing and checks disclosure under FTC rules in the USA and ASCI guidelines in India. UGC videos can run as organic posts and as ads.

Does social media marketing work for B2B companies?

Social media marketing works well for B2B, mainly on LinkedIn, through founder posts, case-study content, expert commentary and lead gen forms. A mobile app development company we worked with grew its LinkedIn page from 4K to 28K followers over its programme.

Can you guarantee followers or viral posts?

No honest agency can guarantee followers or viral posts, because platforms decide distribution. Guarantees usually mean bought followers, which hurt reach because fake accounts never engage. We commit to a written scope, steady output and honest reporting instead.

Can an agency in India manage social media for a US, UK or UAE brand?

Digital Magma manages social media for brands abroad remotely from Noida. Posts go out in your audience’s time zone, spelling follows your market, and all work happens in accounts you own. Calls run Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 9 pm IST, and fees are quoted in USD, GBP or AED.

What is the difference between a boosted post and an ad?

A boosted post promotes something already on your page with simple targeting. An ad built in Meta Ads Manager gives full control over the objective, audiences, placements, creative tests and lead forms. Boosts suit quick reach, while Ads Manager suits leads and sales.
