What are website design services?
Website design services cover the planning, UX, visual design, copy, development, SEO set-up, testing and launch of a website, plus care after launch. Digital Magma provides website design services for businesses worldwide, building sites that load fast, meet accessibility basics and are structured for Google and AI search.
Web design vs web development
Design decides structure, layout and how a visitor moves through the site: the UX design and the UI design. Development turns that into working code, a CMS your team can edit, and integrations with payments, forms and your CRM. At Digital Magma one team does both, so nobody hands a beautiful mock-up to a developer who then quietly cuts half of it.
What separates a real service from a template job
A template job gives you pages. A proper service gives you a sitemap tied to what people search, a keyword map for each page, schema markup, tracking that records every enquiry, and a site you can edit without calling anyone. See what we deliver for the full list.
Is it time?
Website design services: signs your business needs a new website
You need website design services when the current site is slow, hard to edit, missing the pages people search for, or quietly losing enquiries. Six signs come up again and again in the sites Digital Magma audits.
It is slow on a phone
Run the homepage through PageSpeed Insights. If it fails Core Web Vitals, visitors feel it: the main image loads late (Largest Contentful Paint), taps respond slowly (Interaction to Next Paint) or the layout jumps (Cumulative Layout Shift). The standards section gives the exact thresholds.
Traffic holds but leads drop
Usually the calls to action are weak, the form asks for eleven fields, or there is no call or WhatsApp button on mobile. Nothing is wrong with the traffic. The page just gives it nowhere to go.
Every edit needs a developer
An old page builder, a custom PHP site or a theme nobody remembers how to update. If changing a price takes a ticket and a week, the site is costing you more than it looks.
Pages you need do not exist
One “Services” page listing eight services cannot rank for any of them. If a service, location or common question has no page of its own, Google has nothing to show for that search.
Google sees an empty shell
Sites built as client-side React apps often send Google almost no HTML. We fixed exactly this for a UK tele-oncology startup by moving it to Next.js with server-side rendering.
The business changed
A rebrand, a new country, a new product line or a move from lead generation to online sales. The old structure was built for a business you no longer are.
Not sure which of these applies? Check your current site first with a free audit before paying for anything new.

Process
Website design process: how Digital Magma builds a site in 6 steps
The Digital Magma website design process has six steps, and each one ends with something you can hold: a brief, a sheet, a design, a staging site, a checklist, a trained team.
Discovery
Goals, buyers, competitors and the searches people make. You send your logo, any existing content and logins. Output: a written brief.
Sitemap and keyword map
One page per service, location and big question, and every old URL listed for redirects. Output: a sitemap sheet you sign off.
Wireframes and UI design
Mobile-first layouts for each template, reviewed with you before a line of code. Output: approved designs.
Development
WordPress, Shopify or Next.js, with schema and tracking built in from the start. Output: a working staging site.
QA and launch
Speed, devices, forms, accessibility and redirects checked on staging, then launched. Output: a completed launch checklist.
Training and care
A CMS training video, 30 days of monitoring after launch, then optional maintenance. Output: a team that can run the site.
Replacing an existing site? Step 2 also produces the redirect map. See how redesigns protect rankings.
What you get
Website design services deliverables: what you receive at launch
Website design services from Digital Magma end with a specific handover list, written into your scope before work starts. Here is what that list normally holds.
- Plan: sitemap, keyword map and wireframes you approved
- Design: mobile and desktop designs for every template
- Built site: all agreed pages, forms and integrations, live on your domain
- SEO set-up: titles, meta descriptions, headings, JSON-LD schema, XML sitemap and robots.txt
- Tracking: GA4, Search Console and Tag Manager, with form, call and WhatsApp events
- Handover pack: logins in your name, a training video and a short editing guide
- With maintenance: monthly updates, backups, and an uptime and speed report
Platforms
Website development platforms: should you choose WordPress, Shopify or Next.js?
Website development should start from who will edit the site and how you sell, not from what the agency prefers. WordPress runs 40.2% of all websites and 58.7% of sites with a known CMS. Shopify runs 5.4% and 7.8%, Wix 4.2% and Squarespace 2.4% of all sites (W3Techs, 29 September 2026).
| Platform | Best for | Strengths | Watch out for | Who edits it |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WordPress | Service businesses, publishers, lead generation | Full SEO control, huge choice of themes and plugins, easy editing | Plugin bloat and missed updates when nobody owns maintenance | Your team, after a short training session |
| WooCommerce | Stores that want full control of data and design | Products and content in one CMS, no platform transaction fees | Hosting has to grow with the catalogue | Your team, with some technical help |
| Shopify | Product brands that want hosted checkout | Secure hosting, fast checkout, large app store | Monthly and app fees, and fixed URL paths such as /products/ and /collections/ | Your team, easily |
| Next.js / headless | SaaS, startups, high-traffic or app-like sites | Very fast pages, server-side rendering, full design freedom | Changes need developers unless paired with a headless CMS | Developers, or editors through the CMS |
| DIY builders (Wix, Squarespace) | Small hobby or brochure sites | Cheap to start, no code needed | Limited control over speed, markup and migrations later | You, alone |
| Custom CMS | Portals and unusual workflows | Built exactly around your process | Higher build cost and dependence on the original developers | Whoever built it |
Selling mainly on marketplaces? Your site may matter less than your listings: see Amazon services. Running courses? Look at learning management system development before you pick a CMS.
How we work
Web design agency method: how SEO-first website design works
Digital Magma works as a web design agency that plans search before pixels. The sitemap, templates and schema are decided from what people actually search, and the visual design is built on top of that plan.
It sounds slower. In practice it avoids late surprises, because nobody redesigns a page late in the project to squeeze in a section that should have been there from day one.
- Information architecture from demand: every page maps to a cluster of related searches. If a search has no page, the site cannot rank for it.
- Answer-first templates: H1, a direct answer, proof, then the call to action. Headings are written as the questions buyers ask.
- A schema graph per template: Organization, WebSite, Service, Product, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList and Person for authors, all in JSON-LD and linked by ID.
- Internal links by design: hub page to service pages to location or industry pages, with breadcrumbs on every level.
- A performance budget at wireframe stage: image formats, font loading and third-party scripts agreed before anyone falls in love with a heavy hero video.
Benchmarks
Website design standards: Core Web Vitals and accessibility benchmarks we build to
Website design services at Digital Magma are tested against public standards, and most of the web still misses them. Google’s Core Web Vitals set the speed bar. WCAG 2.2 sets the accessibility bar.
| Metric | What it measures | “Good” threshold | Mobile sites passing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) | How fast the main content appears | 2.5 s or less | 62% |
| Interaction to Next Paint (INP) | How fast the page reacts to a tap or click | 200 ms or less | 77% |
| Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) | How much the layout jumps while loading | 0.1 or less | 81% |
| All three together | A page that passes Core Web Vitals | All three at the 75th percentile | 48% (56% on desktop) |
Thresholds from web.dev, measured at the 75th percentile of real visits. Pass rates from the HTTP Archive Web Almanac 2025.
Speed: where we spend the effort
LCP is the metric most sites fail. So the hero image, the web fonts and anything that blocks rendering get the most attention on our builds. We check lab scores in PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse during the build. After launch, the real test is field data in the Chrome UX Report (CrUX), because that is what Google uses.
Accessibility: what we test before launch
Colour contrast, alt text on meaningful images, labels on every form field, visible keyboard focus and a logical heading order. These are the failures that show up most often. A full WCAG 2.2 AA audit is available as an add-on for regulated or public-sector clients.
The European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) has applied across the EU since 28 June 2025 to many ecommerce and digital services, as explained by the EU’s AccessibleEU centre. This is general information, not legal advice. Check with a lawyer whether your business is in scope.
How we track these numbers after launch is covered in website design KPIs.
Redesign & migration
Website redesign services: how to redesign without losing Google rankings
Website redesign services at Digital Magma treat every rebuild as an SEO migration first and a design project second. The danger in a redesign is quiet. URLs change, a few redirects get missed, a ranking page loses its best paragraph, and three weeks later the enquiries thin out with no obvious cause.
So the order of work is fixed:
- Crawl and benchmark: every live URL with its traffic, rankings and backlinks, saved before anything changes
- URL mapping: a one-to-one 301 redirect for every old URL, never a mass redirect to the homepage
- Content parity: pages that rank keep their key copy, headings and internal links
- Staging checks: metadata, schema, canonical tags and robots rules tested on the staging site
- Launch day: redirects tested in bulk, XML sitemap submitted, tracking confirmed
- After launch: Search Console checked daily for the first weeks, with 404s fixed as they appear
Common platform moves we handle: Wix, Blogger or old PHP to WordPress, WordPress to Shopify, and React to Next.js. Want to know what you have before you move it? Start with a free SEO audit, or see how ongoing SEO services pick up after launch.
Tools
Website design tools and tech stack Digital Magma uses
Digital Magma’s website design services are built on four platforms: WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify, and custom React or Next.js. The UK tele-oncology site, for example, was migrated from React to Next.js.
For measurement and audits we use a short list of standard tools, and we name only the ones we actually open every week. Google’s own tools tell us how the site behaves. The crawlers and SEO suites show how it compares with the competition.
Projects
Website design case studies: builds and launches, client names withheld
Website design case studies from Digital Magma, with client names withheld and numbers taken from Google Search Console. The first is a full website build. The other two show site-structure and content work on existing sites.

- Result
- 30+ keywords ranked in the first month, eight of them at position one.
An Indian mobile-app development company
International site structure and SEO
- Challenge
- Thin organic traffic on a company site competing for clients in six countries.
- Work
- International site structure and SEO for India, the USA, UK, UAE, Canada and Australia, with service pages and content added steadily.

A Noida software development company
Content pages added to an existing site
- Challenge
- Win a crowded commercial search term fast.
- Work
- Nine future-keyword posts on searches that were just starting to grow, structured and linked into the existing site.
- Result
- Position one on Google for the target term within two months.
All projects in one place: case studies. Search Console screenshots are available on request.

Industries
Website design services by industry: sites built around how your buyers decide
Website design services at Digital Magma start from how buyers in your industry compare and decide. A patient choosing a specialist and a CTO comparing software vendors need very different pages.
Healthcare
Trust pages, clinician profiles, clear referral routes and medical schema. Every claim needs a source.
SaaS
Feature, pricing, comparison and integration pages, plus documentation that ranks on its own.
Ecommerce
Category architecture, product schema and a checkout that stays fast on a mid-range phone.
Real estate
One page per project, floor plans that load quickly, lead forms and RERA details for Indian projects.
Education
Course pages that answer fees, duration and outcomes, and admissions forms that parents finish.
Local business
Location pages that match your Google Business Profile, with tap-to-call on every screen.

Coverage
Website design services worldwide: how remote projects run across time zones
Digital Magma delivers website design services remotely to clients in India, the USA, the UK, the UAE, Canada and Australia. There is one office, in Sector 137, Noida 201305. Everything else runs over video calls, shared documents and a staging link you can open at any hour.
Working hours are Monday to Saturday, 9 am to 9 pm IST. That gives a comfortable overlap with UK and UAE mornings. For the US East Coast, calls usually fall in your morning, which is our evening. Written updates mean nobody waits for a meeting to see progress.
- Currency: quotes in USD, GBP, AED or INR, based on scope
- Language: copy in US or UK English, matched to your market
- Cookie consent: set up for GDPR and UK GDPR where European visitors are expected
- US privacy: CCPA-aware forms and notices for Californian audiences
- EU accessibility: EAA-relevant checks for stores selling into the EU
Compliance notes are general information. Your legal adviser has the final word on what applies to you.
AI search
Website design for AI search: sites ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews can read
Website design for AI search means building pages that ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews can fetch, understand and quote. Digital Magma builds for this from the template up, because it is very hard to add afterwards.
Server-rendered HTML
Not every crawler runs JavaScript. If your content only appears after scripts run, some of them will see an empty page. Server-side rendering puts the content in the first response.
Answer-first sections
Each section opens with a 40 to 80 word answer that makes sense on its own. That is the passage an AI tool can lift, and the one a busy reader wants anyway.
Clean heading hierarchy
One H1, H2s that say what the section answers, H3s beneath them. Machines use headings to work out where one idea ends and the next begins.
Consistent entity facts
Your name, address, founder and social profiles, identical in schema, on the page and across the web, with sameAs links. Inconsistency is how AI tools end up describing the wrong business.
Crawler access you chose
robots.txt decides which bots can read the site. OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended each do different things, and we set them on purpose after explaining the trade-offs.
llms.txt, optional
An emerging convention: a plain-text summary of your site that some AI tools read. It is cheap to add. It does not affect Google rankings, and we will not tell you it does.
Go deeper: AI SEO services, ChatGPT SEO and Google AI Overviews optimisation.
Pricing
Website design cost: how much does a website cost in 2026?
Website design cost at Digital Magma is quoted in writing after discovery, because there is no fixed website price. A six-page clinic site and a 2,000-product store are different jobs. For market context, WebFX puts average web design costs at $1,000 to $30,000+ in 2026, with larger businesses sometimes spending $100,000+ (WebFX pricing guide). That is published market data, not our price list.

What makes a website cost more or less
| Factor | Costs less | Costs more |
|---|---|---|
| Pages and templates | A few templates reused across pages | Many unique layouts |
| Design | A well-chosen theme, refined | Fully custom UI design and prototype |
| Catalogue | Tens of products | Thousands of products, variants and filters |
| Integrations | A contact form | CRM, payments, booking, ERP or custom APIs |
| Copywriting | You supply final copy | We write and structure every page |
| Migration | New domain, nothing to move | Hundreds of ranking URLs to map and redirect |
| Accessibility | Basic checks before launch | Full WCAG 2.2 AA audit and fixes |
| Care after launch | Your team maintains it | Monthly maintenance with edit hours |
Budget for running costs too: the domain, hosting, paid themes, plugins or Shopify apps, and maintenance. These vary widely by platform, so they appear as separate lines in your quote.
Compare
Web design agency vs freelancer vs DIY builder: which should you choose?
A web design agency costs more than a DIY builder or a freelancer, and whether that is worth it depends on how much revenue the site carries. Here is an honest comparison from Digital Magma.
| Factor | DIY builder | Freelancer | Agency (Digital Magma) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upfront cost | Lowest | Low to medium | Medium to high |
| SEO planning | Basic settings only | Depends on the person | Keyword-mapped sitemap and schema |
| Speed and Core Web Vitals | Limited control | Varies | Tested before launch |
| Design, copy and code | You do all of it | Usually one skill set | One team covers all three |
| Migration safety | Risky | Often skipped | Redirect map and staging checks |
| Accessibility | Depends on the template | Rarely tested | Checked before launch |
| Support after launch | Help articles | When they are free | Maintenance and training |
| Ownership risk | Locked to the platform | Sometimes in their account | Everything in your name |
| Best for | A three-page hobby site | A small, clearly defined build | Revenue-critical sites and migrations |
Plenty of good freelancers exist, and for a small defined job one can be the right call. Need a specialist to join your own team instead? See hire digital marketing experts.
Buyer’s guide
Website designing company checklist: how to choose, red flags and questions to ask
A good website designing company shows live sites that rank, puts the scope in writing and hands you full ownership. Use this checklist on anyone you speak to, Digital Magma included.
Green flags: look for these
- Live websites you can open, test on your phone and search for
- A sitemap and keyword plan before any design work
- A written redirect plan if you already have a site
- Domain, hosting and admin logins registered to you
- Clear answers on Core Web Vitals and accessibility
- Training and a support option after launch
Red flags: walk away from these
- “Website in 3 days” with no questions about your business
- The agency keeps the domain or hosting in its own account
- No mention of SEO, redirects or mobile speed
- A portfolio of screenshots with no live links
- Nulled or pirated themes and plugins
- Guaranteed rankings or guaranteed traffic
Six questions to ask any web design agency
- Which platform do you recommend for my business, and why?
- Can I see three live sites you built, and how do they rank?
- How will you protect my current rankings during the rebuild?
- What Core Web Vitals targets do you test against before launch?
- Who writes the copy, and who does the SEO set-up?
- What exactly do I own when the project ends?

What to expect
Website design timeline: how long does it take to build a website?
A typical business website takes about four to eight weeks at Digital Magma, from discovery to launch. Stores, custom builds and large migrations take longer. The biggest delay is almost never code. It is content and feedback.
Plan and design
Discovery, sitemap, keyword map, redirect plan, wireframes and approved designs for the main templates.
Build and launch
Development, content entry, QA on the staging site, then launch with redirects and tracking live.
Settle and measure
Pages indexed, first rankings appear, and CrUX field data builds up. It covers a rolling 28-day window, so it needs about a month of real traffic.
Grow
Conversion tracking reviewed, weak pages improved, and new pages added where searches show demand.
These are typical ranges, not promises. Each stage maps to the six-step process above.
Reporting
Website design KPIs: how Digital Magma measures a new site after launch
Digital Magma measures a new website on six numbers, and “it looks nice” is not one of them. Of the 12 competitor web design pages we reviewed in September 2026, only one explained how a site is measured after launch. Launch is where the real test begins.
- Indexation: pages indexed in Search Console compared with the XML sitemap
- Core Web Vitals: field data pass or fail for mobile and desktop
- Search visibility: organic clicks and impressions for the pages in the keyword map
- Conversions: conversion rate, plus form, call and WhatsApp events in GA4
- Errors: 404s and redirect hits, so a missed redirect is found in days
- Accessibility: the pre-launch checks still passing after content edits
From the founder
Website design mistakes and myths that cost rankings and leads
Website design myths are expensive because they sound sensible. These six come from what Digital Magma founder Ankit Sachan has seen go wrong on client sites over ten years.
“A beautiful site will rank”
The UK tele-oncology site began as a client-side React app. After the move to server-side rendering, 30+ keywords ranked in month one. Google reads HTML, not screenshots.
“Google updates cause most traffic drops”
In my experience, missed redirects after a redesign are behind many of the drops people blame on updates. Plan the URL map before the design.
“More plugins mean more features”
Most plugins add scripts, and scripts slow down taps. That shows up in INP. Ten plugins you need beat forty you might use.
“We’ll do mobile later”
Most of your visitors will probably arrive on a phone. Design for the small screen first, then give desktop the extra room.
“SEO comes after launch”
By launch the structure is fixed. The sitemap is the SEO strategy, so it has to be decided before anyone opens a design file.
“An AI builder replaces a plan”
AI tools can generate a decent layout in minutes. They do not decide which pages you need, where old URLs should point, or what counts as a lead.
2026
Website design trends in 2026: what actually changes the brief
Website design trends worth acting on in 2026 are the ones that change a brief, not a colour palette. Digital Magma tracks six, each dated and sourced.
Interaction speed counts
INP replaced FID as a Core Web Vital on 12 March 2024 (web.dev). Every tap is now measured, so heavy scripts cost more than they used to.
Accessibility has a deadline
The European Accessibility Act has applied since 28 June 2025. For stores selling into the EU, WCAG checks belong in the build scope from day one.
Accessibility errors went up
WebAIM counted 56.1 errors per home page in 2026, up from 51 in 2025 (WebAIM Million). The direction is the wrong one.
Buyers read AI summaries
82% of consumers read AI-generated review summaries, according to BrightLocal’s Local Consumer Review Survey 2026. Pages need answers that summarise well.
Consent shapes tracking
GA4 consent mode and first-party data matter more each year. Forms that post straight to your CRM keep working when browser cookies do not.
AI-assisted building
People now search for how to build a website with AI. It speeds up drafts and layouts. The page plan, redirects and tracking still need a person who knows what is at stake. More on this in AI SEO.

FAQs
Website design services FAQs
Website design services questions we hear most often from buyers in every market, answered by Digital Magma in plain terms.
What do website design services include?
Website design services from Digital Magma include discovery, a sitemap and keyword map, wireframes, UI design, development on WordPress, Shopify or Next.js, SEO set-up, schema, tracking, testing, launch and CMS training. Maintenance after launch is optional. Copywriting and a full accessibility audit can be added to the scope.
How much do website design services cost?
Digital Magma quotes each website project in writing after discovery, because pages, custom design, integrations and migration change the price. As market context, WebFX puts 2026 averages at $1,000 to $30,000+. Our SEO plans have fixed prices: local SEO ₹14,999/month, local plus national ₹29,999/month, and an audit at ₹14,999, all plus GST.
How long does it take to build a website?
A typical business website takes about four to eight weeks from discovery to launch. Ecommerce stores, custom Next.js builds and large migrations take longer. The biggest variable is how quickly content and feedback come back, so we agree review dates at the start.
What is the difference between web design and web development?
Web design covers structure, layout, UX design and UI design: how the site looks and how people move through it. Web development turns that into code, a CMS, and integrations with payments or your CRM. Digital Magma does both, so the design you approve is the site that launches.
Should I choose WordPress, Shopify or a custom Next.js build?
WordPress suits service businesses and content-heavy sites. Shopify suits product brands that want hosted checkout. WooCommerce suits stores that want full control. Next.js suits SaaS and app-like sites that need speed and design freedom. The deciding question is who edits the site and how you sell.
Do you design websites for businesses outside India?
Digital Magma has clients in the USA, UK, UAE, Canada and Australia as well as India. Projects run remotely, with working hours of 9 am to 9 pm IST, Monday to Saturday, which overlap well with UK and UAE mornings. Quotes are available in USD, GBP or AED.
Will my new website be SEO-friendly, and are rankings guaranteed?
Every site we build includes SEO set-up: keyword-mapped pages, titles, headings, schema, an XML sitemap, speed work and Search Console. Rankings are never guaranteed, by us or by anyone honest, because Google decides them. What we can promise is a site that gives Google no technical reason to hold it back.
Will a website redesign hurt my Google rankings?
A redesign hurts rankings when URLs, content or redirects are handled badly. We benchmark your current traffic, map every old URL to a new one with 301 redirects, keep ranking content intact, test on staging and watch Search Console daily after launch.
Who owns the website, domain, hosting and code?
You own all of it: the domain, hosting account, code, design files, content and admin logins. Digital Magma sets accounts up in your name from the start, so you are never locked in and can move to another provider whenever you like.
Will my website meet accessibility standards like WCAG 2.2 or the EAA?
Sites we build are checked against common WCAG 2.2 failures: colour contrast, alt text, form labels, keyboard focus and heading order. A full WCAG 2.2 AA audit can be added for businesses that may fall under the European Accessibility Act. This is general information, so confirm your legal obligations with an adviser.
Do you write the website content, and what do I need to prepare?
We can write every page, or edit copy you supply. Before discovery, gather your logo and brand files, any existing content, photos, product data, and logins for your domain and current site. A short list of competitors you admire, or dislike, helps too.
Do you offer website maintenance after launch?
Digital Magma offers monthly maintenance covering core, theme and plugin updates, backups, security checks, uptime and speed monitoring, and a set number of edit hours. The price depends on the size of the site and is quoted separately from the build.
How do you design a website for ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?
We render content on the server, open each section with a short direct answer, keep headings clean, add schema with consistent business facts, and set robots.txt so the AI crawlers you want can reach the site. An llms.txt file is optional and does not affect Google rankings.
Can I update the website myself after launch?
You can edit your own pages after launch. WordPress and Shopify sites come with a recorded training session and a short editing guide. Headless Next.js builds can be paired with a CMS so editors can change text and images without touching code.
Do I have to host my website with Digital Magma?
Hosting is your choice. We recommend a provider that suits your platform and traffic, set the account up in your name, and configure the CDN, SSL and backups. You pay the host directly, so you keep full control.
