What are content writing services?
Content writing services are professional writing for a business’s website and marketing: blog posts, service and landing pages, product descriptions, case studies and more, researched around what buyers search. Digital Magma’s content writing services combine keyword research, subject interviews and human editing, so each page ranks, gets cited by AI answers and turns readers into enquiries.
Writing vs content marketing
Writing is the production step: research, drafting and editing. Content marketing adds the strategy around it (which topics, for whom, in what order) and the distribution afterwards. We do both, but you can hire us for either.
How the market charges
Agencies and freelancers price per word, per piece or as a monthly retainer. Wikipedia’s entry on content writing services describes pricing per word as a common model. We quote per project or per month, for reasons explained in the pricing section.
Where it meets SEO
Search engines rank pages, and pages are made of words. Technical SEO gets a page crawled. The writing decides whether it deserves to rank once it is. That is why our writers work inside an SEO team.
Fit
Content writing services: who needs them and when
Content writing services make sense when the writing your business needs is bigger than the time or skill you have in-house. These are the six situations we see most often.
Founders with no time to write
You know the subject better than anyone, but the blog has not been updated since last year. A 30-minute interview with you can become a 1,500-word article in your voice.
Traffic, but no leads
The blog ranks for broad informational terms that never convert. The fix is usually fewer, better-aimed pieces and stronger service pages, not more volume.
New websites
A new site often needs 20 to 50 pages at once: home, services, locations, FAQs and the first ten articles. Writing them against one keyword map avoids pages competing with each other.
Stores with thin product text
Manufacturer descriptions copied across hundreds of sites give Google no reason to rank yours. Original product and category copy does.
Regulated or technical sectors
Health, finance and software buyers check facts. Content in these fields needs sources, careful claims and review by someone who knows the subject.
Teams drowning in AI drafts
Plenty of companies now have hundreds of AI-generated drafts and no one to fix them. Editing those into something accurate and distinctive is a job in itself.
Every format
Content writing services we offer: every content type

Process
Content writing process at Digital Magma: 6 steps
Content writing at Digital Magma runs through the same six steps whether the job is one product description or a 3,000-word guide. The brief in step three is where most of the quality is decided.
Discovery
Your goals, buyers, offers, competitors and brand voice, plus a look at the pages you already have.
Keyword and topic research
Search intent, gaps against competitors and future keywords, grouped into topic clusters and ranked by value.
Content brief
Target keyword, outline, questions to answer, sources, internal links and the one thing the reader must leave knowing.
Writing
A writer drafts the piece in your voice, using interviews or notes from your subject experts.
Editing and fact-check
An editor checks every claim and source, runs a plagiarism check and cuts anything that does not help the reader.
Publish, track, refresh
We upload or hand over, track the page in Search Console and schedule a refresh when it slips.
What you get
Content writing services deliverables: what you get
Digital Magma’s content writing services deliver a plan, a brief for every piece and finished, publish-ready drafts, with the SEO work for each page done before it reaches you. Nothing is written until you have approved the topic and the brief.
- Content plan: topics ranked by search demand, difficulty and business value
- Briefs: one per piece, shared for your approval before writing starts
- Finished drafts: delivered in Google Docs, with comments open for your team
- SEO pack per piece: title tag, meta description, heading plan, internal links and a schema suggestion
- Upload, if you want it: formatted into WordPress or Shopify with images and links
- Refresh list: older pages that need updating, reviewed every month
- Delivery dates: agreed piece by piece in the proposal, based on length and research needed
The expert part
SEO content writing: how we write pages that rank
SEO content writing at Digital Magma starts with the search results, not a blank page. Before a word is drafted, the writer reads the current top 10 for the target keyword and answers one question: what kind of page is Google already rewarding here?
If the top results are listicles, a 4,000-word essay will struggle. If they are product category pages, a blog post probably cannot win at all, and we will tell you so. Matching the format of the results is the cheapest ranking gain there is.
From there, the rules are simple and applied every time:
- One primary keyword per page. Secondary terms and related entities go in naturally. Two pages chasing the same term split their strength, so the keyword map prevents it.
- Answer first. The opening lines of the page, and of each section, give the direct answer. Detail follows for readers who want it.
- Headings that match questions. A heading such as “How long does a water purifier filter last?” does more work than “Maintenance”.
- The right shape for the job. Tables for comparisons, numbered steps for processes, short paragraphs for everything else.
- Internal links with plain anchors. Each new post links to the service page it supports, and the pillar page links back. That is how topic clusters pass authority around a site.
- No keyword stuffing. If a sentence reads badly out loud, it gets rewritten.
Quality
Content writing quality: editing, originality, ownership and brand voice
Content writing quality at Digital Magma rests on one habit: a person edits every piece before you see it. The rest of this section explains what that editor checks, and what you can expect from us in writing.
Human editing
Orbit Media’s 2026 blogging survey found that bloggers who work with a formal editor are nearly twice as likely to report strong results as the average. The editor cuts padding, fix structure and ask the question writers forget: would a buyer care about this paragraph?
Fact-checking
Every number, date and claim is checked against its source, and the source is linked in the draft. For health, finance and legal topics, we ask for review by your own qualified expert before publishing.
Originality
Drafts are written from research and interviews, never spun from someone else’s article. Each one goes through a plagiarism check before delivery.
Brand voice
In discovery we build a short tone of voice guide with you: words you use, words you avoid, how formal to be, how you refer to customers. Writers follow it, along with your editorial guidelines if you have them. Piece twenty should sound like piece one.
Ownership
You own every word we write for you, and the proposal says so in writing. Your pieces are written for your site alone.
Revisions
The revision rounds for each piece are set out in your proposal. Most changes are caught earlier, because you approve the brief before writing starts.
AI, honestly
Content writing with AI: how we use it, and where humans matter
Content writing with AI is allowed by Google, and Digital Magma uses AI tools where they save time without costing accuracy. What Google objects to is purpose, not the tool.
Google’s own guidance on creating helpful content says that using automation, including AI, to produce pages “for the primary purpose of manipulating search rankings” breaks its spam policies. Its spam policies call the mass version of this “scaled content abuse”: many pages made to rank rather than to help anyone, however they were produced. The same guidance lists experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust (E-E-A-T) and states that “trust is most important”.
So the useful question is where AI helps a reader and where it hurts one. Our answer:
- AI helps with: summarising research, suggesting outline variants, spotting questions a draft has missed, and first-pass proofreading.
- Humans do: opinions and recommendations, first-hand experience, every fact and figure, interviews, and the final edit.
- We never: publish an unedited AI draft, invent a quote or statistic, or produce pages in bulk just to target keyword variations.
GEO & AEO
Content writing for AI search: getting quoted by AI Overviews and ChatGPT
Content writing for AI search follows the same fundamentals as SEO, with more attention to passages that can be lifted and quoted on their own. Google says in its guidance for AI Overviews and AI Mode that no special markup or extra optimisation is needed to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode. Good SEO practice still applies.
Why it matters: a 2025 Pew Research Center study of browsing data from 900 US adults found that users clicked a result on 8% of visits when an AI summary appeared, against 15% when none did. When fewer people click, being the source the summary quotes is worth more.
The passage patterns we write for GEO (generative engine optimisation) and AEO (answer engine optimisation):
- 40 to 60-word answers directly under the question they answer
- Passages that name their subject, so a quoted paragraph still makes sense out of context
- A number or a source in the passages that carry claims
- Comparison tables where buyers weigh options
- Dated updates, so freshness is visible to readers and machines
We measure this with manual checks of the target questions in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, logged each month. More on the method: AI SEO services, AI Overviews optimisation and ChatGPT SEO.
Proof
Content writing results: case studies and industry benchmarks
Content writing results from Digital Magma projects, shown without client names. In two of the three, writing was one part of a wider SEO programme, and we say so rather than credit the words for everything.

Content writing services cost: pricing models and what affects it

Market prices, for comparison (not our prices)
Clutch’s writing services pricing guide (updated September 2026) puts the average agency rate between $25 and $49 an hour, with most projects reviewed on the platform under $10,000. Editor World’s 2026 comparison of writing services lists standard per-word rates from about $0.066 to $0.19. Rates far below that range usually mean little research and no editor.
What affects the cost of content writing
| Cost factor | Costs less | Costs more |
|---|---|---|
| Research depth | Your notes and existing sources | Original research and expert interviews |
| Subject | General business topics | Medical, legal, finance or deep technical topics |
| Length | Product and social copy | Long guides, ebooks and white papers |
| Language | One language | English and Hindi versions of each page |
| Extras | Writing only | SEO pack, images, upload and refreshes |
| Volume | A monthly plan (lower cost per piece) | Occasional one-off pieces |
| Deadline | Planned a month ahead | Rush delivery |
Per word, per piece or retainer?
| Model | Good for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Per word | Simple, like-for-like jobs; easy to compare quotes | Rewards padding. Research and interviews go unpaid, so they get skipped |
| Per piece | Defined deliverables such as a case study or landing page | Scope creep if the brief is vague |
| Monthly retainer | Ongoing blogs, refreshes and planning | Needs a clear monthly list, or output drifts |
Compare
Content writing options compared: agency, freelancer, in-house or AI tool

Content writer vs copywriter vs SEO content writer
| Role | Goal | Typical output | Success measured by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Content writer | Inform and build trust | Articles, guides, newsletters | Readers, engagement, return visits |
| Copywriter | Persuade someone to act now | Ads, landing pages, sales emails | Clicks, sign-ups, sales |

Buyer’s guide
Content writing agency checklist: how to choose the right one
A good content writing agency shows you a brief before it writes, names the editor and puts ownership in writing. Use this checklist on anyone you are considering, Digital Magma included.
Green flags
- Briefs shared for approval before writing starts
- A named editor, separate from the writer
- Keyword research and search intent in every brief
- Samples from your industry, or close to it
- Sources linked inside the draft
- Ownership and revisions stated in writing
Red flags
- A per-word price far below the market range
- No sources, or statistics nobody can trace
- Spun text or unedited AI output
- No revisions, or a vague answer about them
- Unclear who owns the finished work
- Success measured by word count alone
Questions to ask any content writing company
- Who writes my pieces, and who edits them?
- How do you check facts and figures?
- Where do you use AI, and where do you not?
- How many revision rounds, and who owns the work?
- How will we know if a piece worked?
- What would you not write for us, and why?
What to expect
Content writing timeline: what to expect month by month
Content writing pays back slowly, then steadily. Ahrefs found that only 1.74% of newly published pages reach Google’s top 10 within a year, so plans should start with low-competition searches you can win early.
Plan and first pieces
Discovery, keyword map, voice guide, the first briefs approved and the first pieces live.
First rankings
Long-tail and low-competition terms start to rank. Refreshed older pages often move first.
Traffic builds
Clusters fill out, internal links strengthen the service pages, and enquiries begin to follow.
Compounding
Older pieces keep earning while refreshes protect them. New writing builds on proven topics.
The exception proves the method: the Noida software company above reached #1 in two months because its posts targeted searches before the competition noticed them. Source for the ranking study: Ahrefs.
Measurement
Content writing KPIs: how we measure success
Content writing KPIs at Digital Magma are tracked page by page, so you can see which pieces earn their cost and which need work. The report opens with enquiries, not word counts.
Organic entrances
How many sessions start on each page from search, tracked in GA4.
Rankings and impressions
Positions, impressions and click-through rate per page from Google Search Console.
Leads and assisted conversions
Enquiries that started on, or passed through, a piece of writing.
Engagement
Scroll depth and engaged time, to spot pages that rank but lose readers early.
AI citations
Monthly manual checks of your target questions in ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews.
Refresh wins
Traffic and rankings regained after an update, compared with the month before.
Avoid these
Content writing mistakes that waste budget
Content writing budgets are rarely wasted on bad sentences. They are wasted on the wrong topics, the wrong volume and pages nobody maintains.
Writing before researching
Topics picked from a brainstorm, with no keyword or intent check, rarely rank. Research takes hours. Rewriting takes weeks.
Forty thin posts instead of eight useful ones
Volume feels productive. Eight pieces that each answer a real question fully will usually outperform forty that skim.
Publishing AI drafts unedited
They read alike, repeat what already ranks and sometimes state things that are false. Readers notice, and so does your brand.
No internal links
A post that links nowhere, and that nothing links to, is hard for Google to find and passes no value to the pages that make money.
Never refreshing
Content decay is normal: facts date, competitors publish, rankings slide. A yearly review of your top pages protects most of that traffic.
No author, no sources
Anonymous pages with untraceable claims fail the trust test that Google’s E-E-A-T guidance puts first. Keyword stuffing fails it faster.
What changed
Content writing in 2026: what has changed
Content writing in 2026 is cheaper to produce than ever and harder to make count. Five shifts, each with its source, explain why.
AI use is nearly universal
92.4% of bloggers use AI, yet only 13.9% report strong results, an all-time low for Orbit Media’s survey. More output has not meant better output.
AI summaries take clicks
Pew found clicks drop from 15% to 8% of visits when an AI summary appears. Being quoted inside the summary now matters as much as ranking below it.
Google targets scale, not tools
Google’s spam policies name scaled content abuse. Pages mass-produced to rank are the problem, whatever wrote them.
Human steps separate winners
In the 2026 survey data, bloggers with a formal editor or original research report strong results far more often than average.
Posts are getting shorter
The average post fell to 1,312 words, from 1,427 in 2023 (Orbit Media). Length for its own sake is losing ground to answers that get to the point.
Older pages hold the top spots
Ahrefs found 72.9% of top-10 pages are over three years old. Refreshing what already ranks is often the best money you can spend.
People
Content writing lead at Digital Magma, and what clients say
Content writing at Digital Magma is led by the founder, who has written for search since 2016. The work is split across four roles: content strategist, writer, editor and SEO specialist.
Ankit Sachan
Founder & Head of SEO, Digital Magma
Ankit has more than ten years of experience in SEO and digital marketing. He led SEO at a mobile app development company for five years, growing organic traffic from about 800 to over 50,000 sessions a month across six countries, and used nine future-keyword posts to take a Noida software company to #1 for “top software development companies in noida”.
His writing method rests on two ideas. Publish on searches before they peak, and answer the question in the first lines of every section. He writes in English and Hindi. MBA from Amity University and BA from Hindu College, University of Delhi. Full profile · About Digital Magma
What clients say on Google
Digital Magma is rated 5.0 on Google from 82+ reviews. These three are quoted word for word. They describe SEO, website and social media projects rather than writing alone, since most of our writing is done inside SEO work.
“Digital Magma helped us redesign our website and improve SEO at the same time. The website looks professional, and we are now getting organic traffic consistently.”
“We hired Digital Magma for social media marketing and SEO services. The engagement on our pages improved, and our website traffic also increased gradually.”
“They explain strategies clearly and focus on long-term business growth instead of short-term promises.”
FAQs
Content writing services: frequently asked questions
How much do content writing services cost?
Digital Magma quotes content writing services on scope, because research depth, subject and length change the work. Writing inside an SEO plan starts at ₹14,999 a month plus GST. For market context, Clutch puts average agency rates at $25 to $49 an hour, and Editor World’s 2026 comparison lists per-word rates from about $0.066 to $0.19.
What do content writing services include?
Our content writing services include topic and keyword research, a brief for every piece, writing, human editing, fact-checking and a plagiarism check. Each piece also gets an SEO pack: title, meta description, headings, internal links and a schema suggestion. Upload to your CMS and later refreshes are optional.
Do you use AI to write content?
We use AI tools for research summaries, outline ideas and first-pass proofreading. People write the substance: opinions, experience, facts and interviews. A human editor checks every piece, and we never publish an unedited AI draft or invent a source.
Does Google penalise AI-written content?
Google does not penalise content for being AI-assisted. Its guidance says using automation “for the primary purpose of manipulating search rankings” breaks its spam policies, and mass-produced low-value pages count as scaled content abuse. Helpful, accurate pages are judged on quality, whatever tools helped make them.
What is the difference between a content writer and a copywriter?
A content writer informs and builds trust through articles and guides. A copywriter persuades someone to act now, through ads, landing pages and sales emails. An SEO content writer does a bit of both, aiming to win searches and then convert them. Our writers cover all three.
Can I see samples before I order?
Samples from similar industries are shared on request, where the client has agreed. You can also start with a single project on your own topic and judge the work on your subject before moving to a monthly plan.
Who owns the content you write?
You own every word we write for you. Ownership is stated in the proposal, so there is no doubt about who holds the rights once the work is delivered.
What if I am not happy with a piece?
Tell us what is wrong and we revise it within the rounds set in your proposal. Because you approve the brief before writing starts, most problems are fixed at the outline stage, where changes are quick.
Is there a minimum order?
Digital Magma quotes single projects as well as monthly plans, so one landing page or one guide is a normal starting order. Monthly plans cost less per piece, because research and briefs are shared across related topics.
How long does a blog post take to deliver?
Delivery dates are agreed piece by piece in the proposal. A short post from your notes moves faster than a researched guide that needs expert interviews, so we set dates once we know the scope, then keep to them.
Is SEO included in your content writing?
SEO is built into every piece. Keyword research, search intent, headings, internal links and meta tags are part of the brief and the SEO pack. For technical fixes and links, see our SEO services.
How do you choose topics?
Topics come from keyword research, the questions your customers ask, gaps against competitors and future keywords that are starting to grow. We rank each by search demand, difficulty and business value, and you approve the plan.
Can you write technical or medical content?
Digital Magma writes technical and healthcare content, including software, app and oncology topics. For medical, legal and financial pages we work from sources and your experts, and ask for their review before anything is published.
How long before content brings traffic?
Low-competition pages can rank within a couple of months. Most plans see first rankings in two to three months and steadier traffic by months four to six. Ahrefs found only 1.74% of new pages reach the top 10 within a year, so strategy matters more than volume.
Can you refresh our old blog posts?
Refreshes are often the best place to start. We find pages that have lost rankings in Search Console, then update facts, rework the structure, fix links and merge overlapping posts. A page with history often recovers faster than a new one can rank.
